Offshore staffing has been a rodeo for quite some time. Everyone knows stories of projects that went up in flames, burnt out developers who quit, and scammers who held code hostage. Our aim was to reimagine the way teams were built, and at the same time, we wanted to utilize those teams to help direct the design of beautiful functional products.
We planned to refresh the approach with a more human perspective. We sought to collect deeper insights into who we were placing on projects using analytical tools, to reduce burnout by recruiting within the local timezone, and to build our brand around that.
I determined to focus my efforts on not only building a friendly attractive brand, finding paying customers, and professionally managing their projects, but vetting out the best designers and ensuring design output quality meet top notch standards.
We charged ahead at full steam and served dozens of clients, delivering everything from rapid-fire prototypes and polished WordPress sites to fully featured, production-ready applications. Along the way we became better at scoping projects, writing clear user stories, keeping thorough documentation, and setting expectations with greater accuracy. After those successes—and once the work was wrapped up—my partner and I decided it was the right moment to part ways and pursue our own next chapters.
