Impact

Results that speak for themselves

  • 30+ feature releases across web and mobile platforms

  • 3,000+ users across 10 clinics

  • Helped Monovo secure $10M+ in funding and $20M+ in ARR

  • Established a scalable design system and product development workflow

From Unclear Direction to Strong Vision

Building clarity from the ground up

When I joined, Monovo was still in its MVP phase. Design systems were new, workflows were loosely defined, and product direction was hazy. My first challenge was to help bring clarity—not just to the product, but to how we worked as a team.

Research as a Foundation

Interviews, competitive analysis, and usability benchmarks

To better understand the landscape, we conducted deep research:

  • Interviews with users across five key roles—patients, caretakers, nurses, doctors, and hospital admins

  • Stakeholder alignment sessions to clarify business goals

  • Competitive analysis of 100+ similar companies

  • Usability benchmarks for our early features

These efforts gave us the context we needed to make informed, strategic decisions.

Designing the Future

Vision prototypes and a smarter workflow

Next, we built vision prototypes—“no-constraints” mockups that showed what the product could be in an ideal world. These designs helped us uncover hidden challenges early and align stakeholders around a shared vision.

To prevent scope creep, we introduced a structured, repeatable process inspired by Basecamp’s Shape Up:

  1. Commit to a clear problem

  2. Vet and select a solution

  3. Stakeholder review

  4. Prototype and test with users

This approach brought clarity, predictability, and momentum to our product development cycles.

UI Updates

You'll notice some differences in UI in the feature design assets listed here. During my tenure at Monovo, producing functional features was a larger priority than modernizing interfaces. To demonstrate my ability to create more aesthetic designs, I've included touched up mock ups for the hero images of this case study.

Date Navigation

Our initial date navigation controls were a bit too complex, not based off an existing mental model, and not easy to execute without significant bugs on the developer end. We drastically simplified the tool to make it much easier to understand and use.

Device Tutorials

We replaced a rarely used message center with more accessible notification cards on the home page, so that patients would be more likely to engage with content meant to drive compliance.

New Onboarding Flow

We redesigned the sign in process to allow patients to create their own accounts rather than having to rely on our support team to do it for them, with hope of reducing overhead costs and speeding up the onboarding process.
